You need a personal trainer!

Yes, you! Keep reading to see why (regardless of fitness level) it might be time to hire a fitness professional…

Whether you are an experienced lifter or you are just getting started, there are numerous reasons why you should hire a personal trainer. No matter how long you’ve been working out, working with a skilled personal trainer can help inject your workouts with some much needed vitality, helping you reach those fitness goals more quickly. There are so many reasons beyond that to hire a PT, especially the incredible ones that you can find here at Phenom. We’ve got the best in the biz right here!

  1. You’re a seasoned lifter, but your workouts have gotten stale.
We’ve all been there! For example, Ron has seriously been working out since 2007, but has had several coaches guiding him through his training over his career. Of course his knowledge base is extensive, but even with years of experience, it’s important to add some variety and learn new techniques. Working with the same people and the same exercises in the gym gets boring. Sure, there’s social media and YouTube and guides you can purchase online, but that doesn’t compare to working one on one with a trainer that works to get to know you and your body, tailoring a program just for you. Regardless of how long you work with your trainer (a few months or for years,) a PT is an excellent way to add some flair back into your workouts.

  2. You’ve just joined the gym and you have no idea how to use all the shiny new equipment.
Utilizing the gym safely is paramount! Most gyms have similar equipment but if there are too many differences it can make a new member feel uncomfortable using something unfamiliar, even if you’ve been in the gym for awhile. Plus, you might have questions about more than just how the machines function - like what does an ideal split look like? How many reps? How many sets? What supplements should you use? When should you stretch? Should you do cardio? Are you lifting heavy enough? The list of questions could go on forever, but you get the idea. Even if it’s just a couple sessions, that can go a long way to learning what you need to know to be successful. Otherwise, you risk using the equipment incorrectly and blindly navigating the gym, unsure how best to make your dream physique happen.

  3. You need accountability and an extra push.
Everyone has their thing - for you it might be gardening orchids, brewing your own craft beer, or maybe it’s crochet. Most likely it’s not fitness, so it can be hard to find the motivation to get to the gym. We get it! Just remember, action must come before motivation - sometimes the easiest thing in the world is to put it in the hands of an expert. Stepping through our doors and having a (free!) consultation with one of our trainers is an easy action to take. Once you spend your hard earned coin on some training sessions and get scheduled with your trainer, you know that your trainer will be there waiting on you, and that is usually the push you need to show up. Once you start showing up consistently, you’ll start seeing results, because your trainer knows what you need to do and how hard you need to work. Seeing those results is the fun part and that’s what gets you hooked.

  4. You want to pick up a new skill in the gym or have a specialized need.
Here at Phenom, we pride ourselves on having a diverse group of members and clients. The folks that come here have a wide variety of goals (functional training, boxing, bodybuilding, oh my!) but it’s always a good idea to vary your workouts. We strive to have trainers that specialize in different things, so if you’re looking to diversify your training, we most likely have a trainer that can help with that.

  5. You are experiencing an injury or some other change to your body that you need to learn to work with.
Throughout our lives, we experience an expansive variety of change to our bodies. It could be an injury or surgery, hormone shifts and imbalances, various medical conditions or a simple pulled muscle. These changes can be hard to navigate and may leave us feeling weak and off balance. If you find the right trainer, you can emerge on the other side of the flux better than before, empowered and stronger than ever. Change is scary, but don’t leave cards on the table, wondering what if. You deserve more than that!
